Install on my Windows laptop

CodeBridge installs from Chrome or Microsoft Edge as a browser app. There is no Windows .exe download or native installer.

Install CodeBridge

Use the Chrome or Edge menu steps below. The browser may hide its install button when the app is already installed or installation is unavailable.

Install from your browser

Google Chrome

  1. Open the published CodeBridge address in Chrome.
  2. Select the install icon on the right of the address bar. If it is hidden, open ⋮ → Cast, save and share → Install page as app.
  3. Select Install. CodeBridge opens in its own window.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Open the published CodeBridge address in Edge.
  2. Select the app icon on the right of the address bar. If it is hidden, open … → Apps → Install this site as an app.
  3. Select Install, then choose any offered taskbar or desktop options.

Open and keep it handy

Open from Start

Open Windows Start, type CodeBridge, then select the app.

Pin to taskbar

While CodeBridge is open, right-click its taskbar icon and select Pin to taskbar.

Desktop shortcut

Choose the desktop shortcut option during installation. If unavailable, find CodeBridge in Start, right-click it, open its file location, then copy its shortcut to the Desktop.

To remove it later, use the installed app's menu or Windows Settings → Apps.

What works offline

You are currently online.

  • Works offline: opening the app after one online visit, and editing guest scratch files (stored in this browser).
  • Needs internet: signing in, saving files to your account, GPT chat, conversations, and every integration.
  • GPT runs on OpenAI's servers — there is no local AI model. CodeBridge cannot read your disk, run a terminal, or execute code; it only sees files you import or paste.
  • Only public app files (scripts, styles, icons) and page shells are cached. Your chats, code, sign-in data and secrets are never cached.

Keyboard

  • Tab move between controls (first stop: Skip to content)
  • ← → move between file tabs, Enter open
  • F2 rename focused file tab
  • Esc leave the editor (Tab indents inside it)
  • Enter send message, Shift+Enter new line

Run locally from source

Export via GitHub, then run with Node.js 20+ and npm. The local copy still uses the hosted backend and OpenAI over the internet. Full steps are in the README.
