Connect AI to get started

  1. Create an OpenAI API key on the secure official OpenAI page .
  2. In Lovable, open Project Settings → Secrets.
  3. Add a secret named OPENAI_API_KEY, paste the key there, and save it. Never paste it into CodeBridge or chat.
  4. Return here, refresh the page, then choose Check connection.

Sign in first to check the connection.

Add Claude, Gemini or Perplexity (optional)

GPT stays your default helper. Each extra helper uses your own account with that company and has its own separate chats.

  1. Create an API key on the helper's official page: Claude, Gemini, Perplexity.
  2. In Lovable, open Project Settings → Secrets.
  3. Add the key and the model name your account uses: Claude: ANTHROPIC_API_KEY and ANTHROPIC_MODEL; Gemini: GEMINI_API_KEY and GEMINI_MODEL; Perplexity: PERPLEXITY_API_KEY and PERPLEXITY_MODEL.
  4. Refresh this page and choose Check connection on that helper's card.

Use CodeBridge from Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor

These apps can read your saved files and past chat list. They cannot change anything.

Claude

  1. Open Claude, then Settings → Connectors.
  2. Choose Add custom connector, name it Code Companion, and paste the server address.
  3. Choose Connect. A CodeBridge page opens: sign in with your CodeBridge account, then choose Approve.

ChatGPT

  1. Open ChatGPT, then Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode.
  2. Back in Apps & Connectors choose Create, name it Code Companion, paste the server address, and pick OAuth for authentication.
  3. Save, then connect. A CodeBridge page opens: sign in with your CodeBridge account, then choose Approve.

Cursor

  1. Open Cursor, then Settings → MCP → Add new MCP server (this opens your mcp.json file).
  2. Paste this and save:

Advanced details

CodeBridge uses the OpenAI API from its protected app service. Your key is never shown in the browser.

It cannot run code and does not have access to your laptop, terminal, or repositories.
